Day 2: Nairobi-Mount KenyaAfter breakfast transfer to Serena Mountain Lodge Located on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the lodge is surrounded by a dense rain forest that comes alive at dusk with a myriad of sounds that makes the African bush so special. Considered the most spectacular forest water hole in the Aberdares, the lodge’s waterhole presents a constant ballet of wildlife. Arriving at Samburu Serena Lodge situated on the banks of Uaso Nyiro River with its crocodiles and leopards Nestled in the trees in the heart of Samburu National Reserve, this man made oasis features a spacious swimming pool and game viewing terrace and makes a perfect base for exploring this unique Reserve.Lunch at the Lodge Early afternoon visit a Samburu Manyatta (village) to get an insight into their fascinating culture and way of life there after proceed for evening game viewing drive in the reserve. A wide variety of animals and bird life are seen at Samburu National Reserve. After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National park with a stopover at the Nyahururu Falls. Proceed to L. Nakuru arriving for Lunch at the lodge, Afternoon game viewing drive in the park. The Park surrounds Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake coloured by a shimmering pink flamingo who flock here year round. Besides the rich and varied bird life this is the home of the Rothschild’s giraffe. Monkeys, impala, buffalo, warthog, Reedbuck and eland. However, the main attractions are the Baboon cliff and Rhino sanctuary. Best places in Kenya to observe them. Continue to Masai Mara National Reserve for lunch at Mara Sarova Camp. Afternoon game drive. Masai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. This 650 sq kilometer reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere. During the seasonal migrations, Masai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebras that move into the area from neighboring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all the “big five” and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal and cheetah.
